Book Cart Books: The Media Center Staff has pulled books related to topics that Ms. Ironmonger has suggested for this assignment. These books are located on a blue book cart located at the back of the circulation desk. Students may not check out these books because other classes are also completing this project. However, these books are available for students to use in the media center while their class visits and during NEST.
Websites: It is important for students to keep in mind that all websites used as electronic resources for research need to be RELIABLE sources! This means that the website should be created/maintained by a reputable source, such as an organization or educational institution. Here are some questions to ask yourself to determine whether a website is a reliable source:
Is it run by a reputable organization (URL ends with .org)?
Is it run by a reputable educational institution (URL ends with .edu)?
It is a government website (URL ends with .gov)?
Is it free of advertisements?
Does it state the last date that the information was updated? Is that date recent?
Does it state an author/creator?
Some websites that are NEVER considered reliable sources are:
Wikipedia
Google
Websites (most commonly have URLs ending with .com) that do not clearly state information required for citation, such as the last date it was updated, the author/creator, the publisher
